Our server was unknowledgable of menu items and gave the impression she didn't want to be there. The food was unimpressionable and tasted microwaved. When we asked for an extra ketchup our server replied, "Are you going to use it?" Rude. Extremely disappointed and would not recommend this restaurant. Also, I wrote a formal complaint letter to the restaurant's general manager (whomever that may be...the website provided no contact names). It's been two weeks and haven't heard a peep! I can only assume this restaurant is going under....

Excellent! We ate in the bar on a Sunday night and had the Fruitti de mar , shore cakes, and fish and wild rice chowder. Food tasted great, service was good, and cocktails were strong. What else could you ask for from a restaurant. Best food we had on our trip.

Pleasant, attentive wait staff. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her Portabella Beef Tips, while I ordered the Frenched Ribeye medium rare. Generally, no matter how I order steak, it usually arrives beyond well done. I was so stunned that my steak was properly prepared, so visually appealing, that I had just to shake Chef Aho's hand to commend him on his excellent work. Reservations recommended, parking can be a challenge depending on events taking place at the lodge.

It's crazy how friendly the staff is here. Crazy in a good way. Genuine friendliness. We hung out here several times over the weekend for dinner, breakfast and drinks. Our breakfast bartender was extremely friendly, attentive and professional. The breakfast sandwich croissant was pretty much perfect. When we ate dinner, the place was PACKED but our waitress was still calm, friendly and attentive. We ate walleye bites, chicken quesadillas, and steak tips. I highly recommend the first and the last choices. The bartender at night was slammed yet still composed. They have many beer selections. One thing I just can't get over is the thrifty prices. $15.50 for 2 Ketel One dirty martinis and a Miller Lite. Those are some dangerous prices.

The wifey and I found ourselves a little south of our usual vacation spot on the North Shore and wanted to try a restaraunt in Two Harbors. We wanted something a little nicer than a greasy spoon in town and thought Kamloops would be a decent choice. It was entirely decent. Their website reccomends making dinner reservations, so we did--entirely unnecessary. Even with it being the Saturday night of Labor Day weekend the hostess sat us immediately. The menu selection skewed slightly more towards adult tastes, which I liked. I had the chicken pot pie and the Mrs. had their prime rib special, a Queen cut for $16. Not bad. We didn't have cocktails, but they have a pretty extensive martini list. The food was good, but just good. Probably nothing that would compel me back for another meal. The decor is a bit dated, but the view on the Lake is great.

This is a seriously charming place to get lunch or dinner if you are driving along the north shore. The good thing is, it is a couple of miles from the Two Harbors town center and a little away from the main road - making it less likely to have swarms of day trippers even on a gorgeous summer weekend. This is, of course, part of the resort and the restaurant is not advertised on the main road - so you need to know it's there to get there. The restaurant is on the upper level and the view of the lake from the deck is terrific. I wish they had something better than somewhat uncomfortable, cheap plastic chairs on the deck. It was a lovely Saturday afternoon and a gentle breeze, balmy weather, blue waters and good food made it close to perfect. We are vegetarians and choices were prettylimited. The spinach based gratin was pretty good, the veggie melt was OK, onion rings were crisp and fresh - all washed down with a very agreeable merlot. This place is kid friendly as a stash of high chairs near the doors showed. The service was friendly and fairly quick. Overall, we left happy.

The restaurant had a very nice view of the lake from the diningroom. In the summer it would be even nicer as they had outdoor seating on the deck. I ordered the Fisherman Sandwich and my hubby ordered the Pork Sandwich. Both were very good. Would definately go back if we were up in Two Harbors again.

Pretentious, overpriced for less than mediocre tasting food. Barely worth the view!

I ate burgers and split onion rings here with three friends. Value: * Burgers are quite pricey and come only with a side of kettle cooked chips. It costs $2 to upgrade to a side of fries. Quality: * All burgers were ordered medium and all came out very well done. Dark grey all the way through. * One of the four orders came out with the wrong burger. * Another had the wrong (a more expensive) side. * Our $8 onion ring appetizer came out 20 minutes after our burgers and had 10 rings. Service: * Even though there was only one other table seated aside from ours the waitress only game to our table to take our order, drop off the food, and deliver the bill. * My water glass sat empty from ordering until the bill was delivered. Setting: * The view from the restaurant is quite nice but it is no different than the view from any other restaurant on the bluffs of Lake Superior's North shore.

My girlfriends and I stayed at the Superior Shores Burlington Rooms for two nights and thought we should try out their breakfast here. What a mistake! The moment we got to the restaurant, we weren't greeted and when we asked for a table, we had to seat ourselves. The employees seemed annoyed and the restaurant was under staff. We waited for everything, to order, for our eggs to get fried, and to get our checks. An hour and a half later, we finally were able to start our day and visit the destinations we planned. Never going here again.

After two dinners here, we got a pretty good impression what the chef thinks of the customer. The first night's entrees were quite good although the service was quite bad. I've never been served a warm martini but, if you like it that way, you have found the perfect source. The second dinner is what sealed the poor deal for us. My wife had walleye and lots of bones, enough to build a pile (wish I had taken a photo). The chef's response was "that is the way it is with fish". I am an amateur fisherman but I can filet walleye to be perfectly boneless. This chef either needs to improve his skill with the knife or remove the item from the menu. Our waiter was as bad as the woman who served us the night before...forgetting bread, waters, delayed drink service, etc. My meal was beef tips and my wife, after tasting, thought the sauce was the same as was served the night before with her Chicken Marsala. There is obviously a reason this chef is cooking in such a small market. I am sure there are better alternatives for dining in this area and strongly recommend you try somewhere else.

At LAST!!! Kamloops has a new chef and a fantastic new menu! This restaurant needed a breath of fresh air and it didn't disappoint for lunch! Start with the appetizers, cheese curds, lightly battered and delicious. Jerk wings with the perfect amount of spice. Followed by a French dip that melts in your mouth and a juicy Lucy that is equal parts amazing and gigantic. Dined with a large party who have been dining here over the years and everyone couldn't stop commenting on the change! Nice job Darrin Young finding Chef Kevin at izaty's in Brainerd. He's a welcome addition on the North Shore!

Off the highway a bit, which means you can probably avoid crowds here. We certainly did. We stopped in for lunch on a Friday afternoon at 1:00 pm and our party of three was the ONLY party in the entire huge room. A little weird. I actually had to go looking for a staff person to be sure they were open. Food is standard hotel stuff. Two of us ordered burgers, which were good but not exceptional. I ordered mine with blue cheese. I could barely taste the cheese when I took a bite and opened the sandwich to be sure it was there. It was, but...it was a perfect square of some kind of white processed cheese with little blue veins in it. Demerits for funky fake roquefort. The fries were awesome--crispy crispy crispy on the outside and potato-y on the inside. The other member of our group ordered the fried walleye sandwich, which came with home made crinkle-cut potato chips. The walleye was fresh-tasting, not fishy, and the sandwich was delicious (I got to try a bite.) We were on the way home so we didn't stick around for dessert. Waitress was friendly, competent and very attentive which is not surprising since we were the whole show.

Kevin Aho and team have it all together at this location, serving tantalizing beef, pastas and seafood. My wife and I had the beef tips and a coppino (seafood stew). Coupled with great salads and hot bread, we received giant portions. The meat was super tender, tasty and well spiced. The seafood stew featured clams, mussels, shrimp and scallops in a tomato type sauce. Simply outstanding. Service was excellent, if you are at the north shore, a trip here can make your night!

Two visits in 3 weeks, two very different experiences. First meal we shared some very good walleye finger apps. Basil had to die for scallops. I had kobe beef meatloaf. It had a sweet sauce, but I didn't realize how soft this is to your palate. We shared a delicious cheesecake. Next trip, we arrive at 5:30. Parking was a nightmare, it's very tight once you find a space. There was a wedding and some kind of other banquet going on. We were alone upstairs in the restaurant. The prime rib was ordered MR, and came out med, lukewarm, and had a very odd taste. Don't test this yourself, you've been warned. I had braised shortribs in a reddish orange sauce. With the exception of the Italian scalloped potatoes, and a decent side salad with blue cheese, I wish we crashed the wedding. I'm guessing that's where all the effort went. I still have faith in this new chef considering our first good experience. I love the menu and now know there are some trial and error items.

Eight of us went to Kamloops Saturday morning for breakfast. Our waiter was very good. The big problem was the kitchen. Half of our table received their meal in a timely manner. We then noticed the waitress served half of another table before returning to out table. She served the rest of the people at our table except one. She returned to the other table where the rest of the people were served. Our party without a meal sat for five minutes before her meal arrived cold. I approached the maitre d' and asked what was causing the delay. She assured me she would check with the kitchen and get back to me. She never returned. As long as you keep your expectations low you will enjoy Kamloops.
